“If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you are always in the same place.” — Nora Roberts
A New Collaboration
Just over a week ago, I had the opportunity to create my first product videos for the Akumal Beach Towel by the company, Wildhorn Outfitters.
Wildhorn reached out to me asking if I would be an influencer for their brand. I immediately hopped on board because you never know where opportunities like this will lead in the future.
Soon after joining the Wildhorn Tribe, the perfect window opened, and I offered to make a video for the company.
A New Learning Experience
I remember the night I was prepping to shoot this video; I was beyond stoked! This was a completely new learning experience where I could develop and hone in my craft.
Browsing through Vimeo, I came across a song in a video which inspired me. When I heard it, I could envision the different scenes I wanted to capture for the video.
Next, I started storyboarding the scenes those scenes. This is the first time I can truly say I storyboarded a video. I keep a notebook of all my ideas and places I want to shoot, but never a collection of scenes from start to finish for a product.
When directing the video, I was able to work with two good friends, so it was great to share my first product video experience with them. I did learn directing is definitely one area I can improve in for my future video productions.
For the Beach Goers
Like I mentioned above, the product I created a video for was the Akumal Beach Towel. We also played around with the Seaview 180° snorkel mask while shooting.
What makes the Akumal Beach Towel is especially unique because it fits in a little pouch, and takes up about the same amount of space of a large water bottle. This is awesome, especially for someone who travels and wants to bring their own easily, storable and accessible towel.
The Akumal towel is large to cater to everyone, it dries extremely fast, and sand brushes right off without getting stuck to it.
The Seaview snorkel was cool to use because of the full 180° view beneath the water. Not having to hold a mouthpiece is refreshing and makes for laidback snorkeling. The mask suctions to your face and makes you sound like darth vador which was amusing.
The mask is made for surface snorkeling which is one thing to keep in mind if you’re more of a diver. But if you’re more of the casual snorkeler, this mask is perfect because it doesn’t fog and give you a nice view of the sea life.
