“You can never discover new oceans unless you have courage to lose sight of the shore” – Andre Gide
Finally there was some sunshine on the island. It’s been a cold and rainy few days, but finally the weather was back to normal.
Since I’d been trapped indoors for some time, I was ready to get out of the house. So I called up a friend and headed out for another adventure.
The Pali
We ended up doing a new hike off the Pali called the Pali Puka. We’ve done the Notches a few times, so figured might as well try see what the other side offers. Read adventure from the Notches here: Sunrise at the Notches.
I love the these two hikes because the incredible views you get without having to hike for a few hours. We started hiking up, and noticed how windy it was. Thank God the wind was blowing the opposite way of the cliff.
The trail is really awesome because its a ridge where you can walk along the side of the cliff which I love doing. But for the less adventurous, there’s a path away from the cliff.
We finally made it to the top and saw the Puka. At the top, there are epic views of Kaneohe, Kailua, Olomana, and Chinaman’s Hat.
New Discoveries
While we were at the top we noticed a old road down at the bottom, so we decided to go check it out when we made it back down.
As we traveled down the road, we found the coolest spot for a skateboarding clip with an amazing view of Kaneohe in the background.
In the same area, we also came across a cool double waterfall. It wasn’t really flowing at the time, but I’m sure during some heavy rainfall, this place would be flowing.
Overall this was a very chill day where we discovered some new spots, and enjoyed the amazing views of the aina!
