Seeking Sunflowers
It was a beautiful Sunday morning here on the island; not a cloud in sight. We woke up, had our coffee and hopped in the car to the Windward side.
We’ve been wanting to go to sunflower fields, but we kept missing the opportunity. Luckily, Waimanalo Farms decided to open their farm to the public.
We arrived at 9:00am, right when it opened but to our surprise it was very crowded. The line to buy tickets had to be at least 50 people long. And boy was it a scorcher!
There was a pumpkin patch on the farm that most of the families were headed towards, but we only had one thing in mind.
Hello Sunshine
After a bit of a wait, we finally made it to the sunflower fields.
The sunflowers were beautiful and out in full effect. The bees were loving them as well. There had to be at least 3 at every single sunflower.
During our time, we were able to capture some pristine moments of both photo and video. This place is a definite must if you’re on the island.
As the time went on, the sunflower field was becoming increasingly more crowded. Savannah and I while wiping the sweat off our face figured it was time to take a dip at the beachThe rest of the day we decided to relax on the beach and cruise on a few waves.

The sunflowers are so beautiful! We have a large sunflower area here in Sacramento, CA that a lot of the locals love to visit. They often make the best photo shoots.

I’ve never been to a sunflower field. Though your photos are really nice and shows how much you enjoyed taking a stroll there, i am not sure i’ll want to go.
I am allergic to bees, and though this never stopped me from going hiking, a concentration of them in a particular place does make me confused as to whether or not i should visit one!

Your photography is just stunning and it’s incredible to see a field of sunflowers with a backdrop of mountains! It’s so different to the ones we have in Europe.

Thanks so much!

On my recent visit to Rajasthan in India, we drive through roads that had sunflower fields on both sides. It felt surreal to drives through vast patches of bright yellow sunflowers. At places, we stopped and took pictures. Your post took me back to those fields.

Glad you could relive those memories!

Looks like you both had so much fun, as a kid i used to love running around in fields like this, I can’t remember if they were sun flower or wheat fields – I don’t think we have sun-flower fields in England (Don’t you need sun for that) haha
